How to report blasphemous content online in Pakistan
If you find content online that you believe disrespects religious sanctities, this guide shows the practical steps: report it on the platform itself, submit the link to BR Portal, and follow its status with a tracking ID. No account is needed.
What BR Portal is (and is not)
BR Portal is an independently managed platform for reporting suspected blasphemous content found online. The team reviews and documents submissions and may forward findings to relevant authorities such as the PTA, FIA, NCCIA and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
BR Portal is not a government body. It does not remove content and does not take enforcement action itself. Decisions about content belong to the platforms and the authorities.
Before you report
- Do not share, forward or comment on the content. Engaging with it spreads it further.
- Copy the full link (it must start with https://) of the exact post, video, page or channel.
- Note the date, time and the username or page name.
- If it is safe to do so, keep an unedited screenshot.
- Do not publicly accuse or target individuals. Your safety comes first.
Step 1 – Report on the platform itself
Every major platform has its own reporting tool, and reporting there is the quickest way to get the platform to review the content. Use the platform guides below for the exact menu steps.
Step 2 – Submit the link to BR Portal
- Open the Quick Report box on the BR Portal homepage.
- Paste your links, one per line. Only https:// links are accepted, up to 20 links per report.
- BR Portal detects the platform automatically. Supported platforms: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, Reddit, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Discord, Tumblr and Quora.
- Press Submit. You do not need to log in.
Step 3 – Keep your tracking ID
After submitting you receive a tracking ID. Copy it and keep it safe: for guest reports it is the only way to find your report again.
Open the Track page and enter the ID. A report is either Submitted (received by BR Portal) or Forwarded (passed on to the relevant authorities).
What happens next
The team reviews and documents the submission. Findings may then be forwarded to the relevant authorities. BR Portal cannot guarantee any particular outcome or timeline.
Reporting directly to the authorities
BR Portal is an additional channel, not a replacement for official ones. You can also contact the relevant authorities directly. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Common mistakes
- Pasting links that do not start with https://.
- Submitting links from platforms that are not supported.
- Sending screenshots instead of links (Quick Report accepts links only).
- Losing the tracking ID.
- Reporting the same link many times. Duplicates are counted but do not speed anything up.
